Fairytale Houses
EARTHEN STRUCTURES
The Hobbit Huts were recently constructed in the woods at Isis Oasis and serve as demonstration models of natural organic building, using Earth right from the property. The Hobbit hut was made using Adobe Bricks made on the property, in the style of ancient Egypt.
It has a living roof, with herbs and flowers growing. There are bottles set into the walls, with LED lights running through them. There is a rocket stove, which can heat up the bed, heat water for tea, and can heat up the space. With the 10 inch thick earthen walls, on a hot day it is much cooler inside, and at night, it is much warmer, making it very comfortable to stay in. There is an outdoor shower and bathroom just an easy walk away.
The Gingerbread House was made using pallets put upright, and then filled with straw for added insulation. There are stain glass windows with LED light strung through, creating a magical effect. There is an upstairs loft, allowing a third person to stay in the space.
