42 Ideals of Ma’at

THE 42 IDEALS OF MAAT AS DEFINED BY REV. LOREON VIGNE 

In 1995, Arch-Priestess of Isis and foundress of the modern, Temple of Isis, Lady Loreon Vigne was traveling along the Nile in Egypt. She was inspired to create a modern day version of the ancient 42 Laws of Meat, also known as the ‘Negative Confessions.’

In the ancient version, the newly deceased were expected to be able to deny doing a number of misdeeds as part of the afterlife purification process. Lady Loreon reformed this ideals into positive statements as she traveled from Temple to Temple, updating these principles of living a good life into a modern, positive guide.

Today, these principles are recited everyday as part of the daily Noon Rite in the “House of Life” Shrine near the entrance to the Isis Oasis Sanctuary. Visitors are invited to attend as they wish. The Temple of Isis strives to embrace and embody the 42 Ideals in daily practice as a guide for leading the best life possible, as well as helping others to do the same!

Isis Oasis Sanctuary welcomes visitors and guests at our Retreat Center and hosts many spiritual workshops, weddings, festivals, ceremonies and other events throughout the year!
